A variety of classes will be available including Ballet, Modern, Improvisation, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theater. Please see Ms. McCain for more information and a registration form. More classes will be held on February 4 as well.
Basketball: The Basketball teams play Monday night at Home and we host Berea Middle. Game time for Gils is 5:30 and Guys start ~ 6:45
TERVIS TUMBLERS have arrived and are available for sale! $20 for 24 oz. cup, lid and straw. They look GREAT! They make great gifts!
The STRINGS AND CHORUS students will be selling Chick-Fil-A Biscuits on Friday mornings. They are $2.50 and they are raising money for a festival in April. They are available in the car line and near the cafeteria in the mornings.
Don’t forget that ALL STUDENTS at League can eat BREAKFAST FOR FREE – they need to be there by 8:00 if they ride in a car to eat and not be late to 1st period.
Our School Store is open on Tuesday and Friday mornings this year – students can stop in on the way to the cafeteria or the gym when they arrive and purchase school supplies or League wear! Thanks to those parents who volunteer to open the store!
Reminder – please be sure to pick up your children on time! School dismisses at 3:25 every day – even if they don’t tell you that!
- Early Morning Help - Don’t forget about the early bird opportunities we have in the mornings – students can be dropped off at 7:30 am. We have teachers who are there with the following options for your children: a place to complete homework, get help, a place to go if they need to finish typing an assignment (Ms. Patton in Lab 314), a place for Math tutoring (Mrs. Modrak in 812), and the gym for intramurals and other activities. We want to provide every opportunity for your kids to be successful!
- PARENT PORTAL and eFUNDS – both new services are available to parents. You must come in to school to get your ID and password and then you can reset it to something you can remember. There is a tremendous amount of information there for you to see. Grades, attendance, discipline – a great way for you to keep up with your child’s progress. The eFUNDS allows you to pay for your child’s meals on-line. Please come in to get your password to get going on these new features provided by the district.
- League Athletics: Check the Athletics website regularly for information regarding sports for 2011/12 school year at: http://teachers.greenville.k12.sc.us/sites/gmccartn/Pages/Athletics.aspx
- Sports Physicals! Don’t wait till the last minute to get Physicals for the next school year; have them done immediately and turn in to Mr. McCartney. All Physicals must be dated after April 1st 2011 and are good for the entire upcoming school year. Any student wishing to tryout for any sport must have a Physical completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to the coach prior to engaging in any tryouts. (Physicals obtained for a High School sport are valid for Middle School; you must get a copy from the high school and turn in here). Physical forms can be obtained by going to the League website and clicking on the Athletics tab and printing a copy, picking up a copy in the front office, or students can pick a copy up from Mr. McCartney in room 316. Don’t wait till the last minute, get the physical done early! Physicals are NO guarantee of a position on a team; students must successfully demonstrate the skills to the coach during try outs to earn a place on the team.
- Sports Eligibility and Participation: Any student wishing to play sports at League must have established their eligibility by starting League on the first day of school in the 7th grade. Any student who comes to League after the first day of 7th grade or this year as an 8th grader is NOT Eligible. If circumstances permit, we can petition the SCHSL for eligibility; any student who thinks they have an issue, please see Mr. McCartney immediately so we can address the issue and process the necessary paperwork to request eligibility. Students must be academically eligible to participate; grades will be reviewed to determine if a student is eligible to try out and play.
